Earth Day Every Day

The earth is our one and only home and we’ve got to take care of it. Sophie and her team deeply value sustainability and strive to be both socially and environmentally responsible however possible.

In the studio, Sophie has always exclusively used recycled gold. The quality is every bit as good as new gold! But instead of being mined, it’s sourced from a domestic mill that refines precious metals - including unwanted estate jewelry and scrap from industries like tech and medical. Approximately 20 tons of ore and waste rock are discarded in mining enough gold for a single wedding band. It is so important to us that we use materials that are already available to us above ground and do not contribute to new mining.

Sophie also sources diamonds reclaimed from estate jewelry whenever possible, often antique cuts. We are constantly striving to be as socially and environmentally responsible as we can, and are aiming for 100% someday!

In the shop, we celebrate the designs of independent designers from around the world who work in a thoughtful and minimally-wasteful manner. Each designer creates work in small batches, made by hand in their studios, ensuring nothing is mass-produced and that every bit of material is efficiently utilized. Working in this way, our designers are utilizing more sustainable means of production and do not contribute to the extreme amounts of excess we commonly see in the retail industry.

And, as a member of 1% for the Planet, we are committed to protecting our one and only home. 1% for the Planet certifies that a minimum of 1% of our sales go to environmental non-profits.
