Protecting our Planet: A Collective Effort
We’ve said it before, and we will continue saying it…we keep the wellbeing of people and the planet at the heart of all we do!
Our key priorities have always been, and continue to be:
- Using recycled metals and stones to minimize harmful environmental and labor practices
- Giving back to organizations that support the environment and human rights
- Supporting small-batch, local production
This Earth Month we want to share a deeper look at the organizations we are so proud to support!!
Our Responsibility
We believe that it is a business’s responsibility to give back to the planet. We've partnered with 1% for the Planet, channeling our support to nonprofits that align with our values and daily operations. In the face of climate change and environmental degradation, organizations around the globe are stepping up to safeguard our planet's future. From advocating for climate action to promoting ethical practices like mercury-free gold mining and empowering women in the mining industry, these groups are at the forefront of the fight for a healthier, more sustainable world. Here are a few of the remarkable organizations that we’ve partnered with to make a difference:
1% for the Planet: 1% was founded on the idea that a company has a responsibility to give back for use of the planet's resources. As a member, we're committed to giving a minimum of 1% of our sales back to the earth, regardless of our profitability.
Protect Our Winters (POW): Founded by passionate outdoor enthusiasts, POW is dedicated to combating climate change and preserving the outdoor spaces we cherish. Through advocacy and activism, they work to advance policies that address the impacts of climate change on our environment and way of life.
Earthworks: Earthworks is dedicated to protecting communities and the environment by addressing the adverse impacts of mineral and energy development. Through their advocacy for sustainable solutions and responsible practices, they work to safeguard the planet for future generations. One of their impactful initiatives is the No Dirty Gold campaign, which aims to ensure that gold mining operations respect human rights and the environment. This international campaign educates consumers, retailers, and manufacturers about the negative impacts of irresponsible gold mining and seeks their support in urging the mining industry to adopt cleaner practices. Rather than calling for a boycott of gold, No Dirty Gold advocates for changes in extraction and production methods to prioritize community, worker, and environmental well-being, promoting alternatives to irresponsibly produced metals.
Pure Earth: Pure Earth partners with governments, communities, and industry leaders to combat pollution and toxic exposures, prioritizing the health of vulnerable populations and promoting cleaner environments globally. Their Global Mercury Program, which trains small-scale gold miners in mercury-free techniques, has significantly reduced mercury exposure and increased gold recovery rates by up to 30%. Additionally, Pure Earth is actively working to empower women in the mining industry, supporting initiatives for increased female participation and advocating for equal rights and opportunities to foster sustainable livelihoods.
